 THE TRENDY GIRL BRIDES

In recent times, an intriguing and. mysterious oddity has surfaced in the Sindy doll collecting world.  The common features of these dolls are that they are always Trendy girls, factory mint and UN played with, and dressed in exquisite hand made wedding gowns that have been clearly tailored to fit them. One has even been sold on EBay wearing a perfect replica of Princess Anne's wedding dress from the early 1970's! No record or reference to these dolls could be found anywhere in either publications or on any web sites on Sindy...

Finally the mystery has been solved. These dolls are indirectly, testimony the quality and popularity of the Sindy doll in early 70's Britain. During this period it was often more practical to hire a wedding gown rather than to buy one. As such, for sentimentality and to keep as a memento, many bridal shops offered an interesting product: a Sindy doll in an exact replica of the wedding gown you hired. This accounts for the fact that the dolls are always in factory mint condition, and are dressed in their quality tailored wedding ensembles. The fact that Sindy was the doll of choice is a reflection of her prominence in the toy world of the period. Indeed the Trendy Girl Sindy doll was voted toy of the year consistently in the early 70's.

A wonderful rarity today, these dolls are a dream in reality with their peachy skin tones, silk like hair and full lashes. Some gowns are classic symbols of fashion of the time and can look a little dated but many are stylish and have stood the test of time with their simple lines and cuts.

Together with the official Sindy Bride outfit from 1974 and the two early 1970’s Bridesmaid issues, these Sindy's make a wonderful display. Wither brought for the sheer beauty of the dolls themselves or as interesting symbols of fashion in the early 70's, the Trendy Girl bridal dolls make an interesting and novel addition to anyone's Sindy collection.

If you are lucky enough to own one of these dolls in your collection and would like to see her featured on this page please feel free to contact us here at Sindy-dolls.com thank you!
